Newspapers…of the future!

by Warren

A news report from 1981, detailing how people might one day read their news in electronic form, online. Like that’ll ever happen. More importantly, these cats are rocking the TRS-80 Color Computer, my first compubeast.

Radio Free Skaro #119 – Fall Guys

by Warren

The Three Who Rule had barely any news to discuss this week, but that didn’t stop them from talking about the upcoming Gallifrey convention in LA, mysterious destroyed buses in Dubai, and (of all things) 80’s Lee Majors vehicle “The Fall Guy.” You have been warned.

Joey DeVilla gets sworn in at Microsoft Tech Days

by Warren

In addition to running around filming the day’s events at Microsoft Tech Days, I also had a chance to film a swearing in ceremony for Joey Devilla, who just finished his probationary period at Microsoft, and is now in his words a “Sith Lord.”

video grab bag of recent Freyburg projects…

by Warren

Here’s some of the stuff I’ve been working on of late. Most recently I shot and cut together a video for Techvibes about Microsoft Tech Days

and another for Techvibes about “Office Hours”, where VCs and entrepreneurs meet up…

Techvibes TV presents First Round Capital / W Media’s “Office Hours” at the Agro Cafe from Rob Lewis on Vimeo.

and finally a promotional video for Khare Communications.

What I’ve been up to…

by Warren

So since I left the Electric Playground I’ve been fairly busy, which goes counter to the idea that if you leave a day job you instantly become a video game playing, couch dwelling loafabout. Some of what I’m doing, like blogging and shooting video for Techvibes, doing videos for friends like Khare Communications, doing some video tutorials and filming events, is out on the net and viewable by all.

Some of what I’m doing or have planned I can’t quite get into yet…because nothing’s been finalized or (in one particular case) I’m the driving force and haven’t quite finalized how I’ll do it.

In the meantime I’m going to try to keep updating the site with video-centric news, but bear with me. It’s not easy editing almost every day and then trying to wrap my head around a blog post.

Radio Free Skaro #118 – By Hook or By Crook

by Warren

The Three Who Rule plunged forward as usual into the exciting world of Doctor Who news and other related shenanigans, but took time to examine the gloriousness that was The Prisoner, the late Patrick McGoohan’s psychedelic masterpiece. Be seeing you!

Radio Free Skaro #117 – Fool’s Reunion

by Warren

After a dusty couple of weeks battling Sutekh, the Hand of Sutekh, and mysterious fez-clad villains, Warren returned to North American soil from Egypt a little dusty but still full of verve for all things Who. Of course, now that the new Doctor has been announced, along with the airing of the Next Doctor, there was little in the way of real news to discuss, so the Three Who Rule made do with fawning over the impossibly cute Character Options figures due later this year, along with digressions into the works of Clint Eastwood and Tombstone, Kurt Russell’s mustachioed magnum opus.

Filmfellas debuts on Vimeo

by Warren

Vimeo, my new video host of choice, is presenting a new web series called Filmfellas, a “Dinner for Five” type show featuring four filmmakers engaging in badinage about process, web vs. TV and film and the changing media landscape. One of the regulars is Philip Bloom, who puts out some amazing looking short films using only a lens adapter and a Sony EX1 (a camera I’ve played with and mostly like). Based on what I’ve seen so far, I’ll definitely be a regular viewer. You can see the first episode below.

Egypt diary, part the second

by Warren

After a week of very, very sporadic internet access, Mel and I finished up our tour of Egypt. We started our tour with a group of really cool Americans and were able to take in the Egyptian Museum (home of King Tut’s treasures, assorted mummies and untold other ancient artifacts), as well as the Pyramids and the Sphinx. We took an overnight train to Aswan, which was a bit of an ordeal. Even though we were in the best sleeper train, it was still a faded, Soviet-era hulk where they served mystery meat for dinner. Aswan, however, made up for the trip. Not only was it a beautiful resort town on the Nile, it was also close to Abu Simbel, one of the most breathtaking of Egypt’s ancient temples. We spent New Year’s Eve lounging around on a felluca, a traditional Egyptian boat, and saw the new year in with Nubian villagers.

After Aswan, we checked out Luxor, with forays into the Valley of the Kings, and a trip to the cheesy but still sorta cool sound and light show at Karnak.

Now we’re holed up in a nice hotel, with somewhat less sporadic (but expensive, so we’ll be rationing) internet access. We get home on the 7th, with a hellish plane trip back to Vancouver, and we’re taking it easy up until then.
