Posting will resume soon

by Warren

I’ve been working like a madman on various projects of late, so I haven’t had a chance to post much here. Two video projects, moving all our stuff out of our condo, going to Edmonton for a wedding, and an impending shift to Tokyo for a while have meant a dearth of bon mots on the site.

But rest assured I have some ideas waiting in the wings. Radio Free Skaro and Fruitygamer continue to crank out the content, and I have a few Japan related ideas I’d like to integrate into freyburg.com as well. So patience, gentle reader, and my apologies.

Next Series of Doctor Who Split Into Two

by Steven
Doctor Who head writer Steven Moffat has announced that the next series of Doctor Who would be split into two halves, with a “game-changing cliffhanger” separating the two. Speaking at the Media Guardian Edinburgh International Television Festival, Moffat said that seven episodes would start airing near Easter, with the following six episodes airing in the Autumn.

Adam Smith, Richard Clark Return To Direct Series 6

by Steven

Doctor Who director Adam Smith

According to the CV of new Doctor Who production designer Michael Pickwoad, Adam Smith and Richard Clark will be returning to the director’s chair for Series 6 of Doctor Who, set to begin filming shortly.

Adam Smith, in our minds, was the directorial star of Matt Smith’s first series as The Doctor, successfully bringing The Eleventh Hour, The Time of Angels, and Flesh and Stone to the screen with great flair and panache. It would appear that Smith will be in charge of one of the first two blocks of filming, which apparently includes shooting on Neil Gaiman’s episode.

Richard Clark returns to Doctor Who for the first time since helming two Series 3 episodes, Gridlock and The Lazarus Experiment.

Both directors join a top notch team which includes Toby Haynes, who is in charge of the upcoming 2010 Christmas Special and who previously directed The Pandorica Opens and The Big Bang from Series 5.

Here’s links to both Adam Smith’s and Richard Clark’s profiles on IMDB:

Doctor Who 1996 TV Movie Coming to DVD in North America

by Steven
As heard in an exclusive interview on the Hoo On Who podcast, 2Entertain Commissioning Editor Dan Hall announced that the 1996 FOX Doctor Who TV Movie will be released in North America before the end of 2011. The long and convoluted history regarding broadcast and distribution rights between the various production companies responsible for the movie have kept it off of North American VHS and DVD shelves since its original broadcast 14 years, so this is welcome, and overdue, news.

Good job, David and Marty at Hoo On Who, for bringing us the announcement! You can visit the Hoo On Who website here, or click to listen to the exclusive announcement in the media player above.

It appears that two new Doctor Who video games, one for the Nintendo DS and one for the Wii, will be released in the UK on October 29 (Play.com lists the release dates as November 17). Not many details are known about the games, produced by Asylum Entertainment, but what we can show you are the covers for each game. Above is the cover for Evacuation Earth (Nintendo DS); below is the one for Return to Earth (Wii).
Exciting, yes? Here’s the links to each game on Amazon.co.uk:
