Powerbook G5s and audiophile lunacy

Another one from Cnet, this time about how the much pined for Powerbook G5 is going to take a while to go from vaporware to reality.

And here's a dainty audiophile snob's take on how to get the best experience from an mp3 player. I don't have the golden ears, so the iPod does me just fine, but some Norwegians may think otherwise. :)

"I was surprised to find, though, that the hardware didn't have much of an effect on sound quality. The file format you use to encode your music and your choice of headphones both make a much bigger difference. But my most profound revelation was that a good headphone amp can turn a weak, tinny music player into a luxuriant sound system."

That guy ain't an audiophile.

"The iRiver and a player I did not test, the Rio Karma, do support the FLAC format, which is not as user-friendly as Apple's lossless."

If he didn't even bother testing it, how did he know its less user friendly? Jesus, this guy is starting to piss me off...

And screw Sennheiser, get yourself the Grado SR80s.
