Democracy in the Middle East

Slate has an interesting article about how though the Iraq war didn't bring about a flowering of democracy in the Middle East a la Russia 1989, things are starting to change.

While I'm happy to see the Middle East go down the road of freedom, giving Bush an ounce of credibility isn't my idea of a good time.

Very good, carry on! This is getting abstract, but thank you, I do enjoy working at the bowling alley! :)

What do we do if, a little while down the road, it appears that Bush actually started something good? I compare his fast tracking democracy in Iraq to that episode of "Family Guy", when Lois becomes a nasty tae kwon do artist. In order to get Chris and Meg to stop fighting, she orders them to hug and then says "Good. Stay that way." As Chris wondered at the time, let's see what happens when Iraq has to pee.
