World's most impressive skylines..

Hong Kong is top dog, followed by New York. Vancouver gets 25th spot, and Edmonton....is 97th. But the ancestral manse beat out San Diego, Tulsa AND Mandaluyong! Yeah!

Pretty subjective rankings... just looking at cities I've been to, I'm surprised that Seoul came in at #3... yeah, it looks pretty cool from a distance, but the city seems kinda slapped together cheaply when you get up close...

Also, I love Vancouver and the lifestyle here, and I agree the skyline is pretty nice, especially with the mountains in the background, but having lived in Yokohama too, I can't believe it placed 26 spots below Vancouver... it seems like the ranking was decided on the author(s) looking at photos of each city, and the ones they have up for Yokohama are pretty crappy... even amateurs take better ones... http://www.notestomyself.net/photos/landmark_tower/index.html

Aren't the rankings just based on the total height of buildings in a city?

If so, it makes sense Vancouver ranks so low because buildings here just ain't that tall, when compared to HK, NY or others.

Ahh... yeah, I see how they did the ranking now.... Now the Seoul thing makes sense... the Koreans measure the number of floors starting from the first sub-basement. If you have a 20-storey bulding in Seoul with a three level underground garage plus a basement, that makes it 24 floors in their official stats...
