Web 2.0's convulsion from tinkering to commerce

Jason Kottke lays down some thoughts on how the popping of the dot.com bubble led to a lot of neat tinkering, and how new infusions of money will reduce this cauldron of creativity to old fashioned money chasing.

The link in the middle of the article on the "Ajax" development technique used by companies like Flickr is a good read too.

Oh, and look, coincidentally, there's a Flickr badge on the right side of Freyburg's top page! Now if only he'd get off his ass and take more pictures! :)

Hah! Actually, the kottke thing is a reaction to the adaptive path story. And I will take more pics, though they'll probably be phonecam ones until I can afford a proper camera. But at least Flickr Pro is only $24 or so, which makes the upgrade awful tempting.
