That Nintendo Revolution really is just 3 DVD cases high!
The console wars are heating up something fierce, with each of the Big Three announcing their new and shiny hardware this week at E3. The Xbox 360 and the Playstation 3 both look impressive, and Nintendo's new "Revolution" console probably has a few tricks up its sleeve.
I'm torn as to which beast I'll eventually break down and get. The PS3 has (no surprise) a far superior line-up of launch titles, but all the good stuff eventually slums its way to the Xbox. And one of the reasons (in fact, probably the main one) I got an Xbox in the first place is because it whups the Playstation hard for first person shooter games, my particular gaming weakness. I can't see that changing with this new generation of consoles.
I also got the Xbox with the intention of modding it into a media centre, but the impulse to tinker is slowly being replaced as I age with outright laziness, and the Xbox may end up just being a video game console.
And before I forget, Nintendo also announced the Game Boy Micro, a tiny version (more or less) of the Game Boy Advance SP. I've got an Advance, and it's a great little rig for retro-gaming. I'd probably be sorely tempted to pick up the Micro for travelling, provided the price is right.

Yeah, and I'll give Nintendo this...generally they do a few things right, like showering Shigeru Miyamoto with riches and innovating with products like the DS. But it remains to be seen which machine is the best purchase. I'll probably end up taking the path of least resistance and snagging the Xbox 360, particularly if Half Life 2 comes out for it.
I'm going old school from now on, Jaguar and Turbo Grafix 16 for me.
Neo Geo is where it's at. The price of admission weeds out those without devotion.
Bah, Neo Geo is great if all you play is 2d fighters with overblown sprite effects....but it's no Atari 2600! Stampede and Kaboom..ooohhhh yeaaaahhhhhhh....
A rumour floating around E3 is that the Nintendo Revolution will allow you to download all NES, Super NES, and Nintendo 64 games and play them on your new system.

There's a limit to the number of times I'll pay for a game Nintendo. Nifty idea, but I'm not going to buy Super Mario 3 more than once. OK. I guess I already have. NES, then SNES Mario All-Stars.
OK, but that's it. I'll play it now on my PC or an Xbox for free thanks.
I can't believe they have the gall to charge $30 for ICE CLIMBER. Jesus.
And how about dropping the price on the Gamecube Mariokart. $70 six months after release is a little crazy. I've got the patience Nintendo--don't think I don't. I can outwait you. Yes. I. Can.
