The NYT Magazine knocks one out of the park with a long, long, long analysis of the "war on terror", four years after since the planes smashed through the WTC and pushed history in a new direction. This one's a brick, but it's worth reading.
Yeah, it's a great read, and you really get a sense of just how far-flung and thinly stretched the US Military is now.
In fact, I think it's time for Canada to strike! We could make our move now and take over a large part of the US... if we dropped free de-criminalized pot, gay marriage licenses and health care cards from the air, we could probably roll into the "blue" states with little or no resistance, and might even be welcomed as liberators... :)
Yes, and when the hillbillies loot their art treasures from the local Wal-Mart (ie. velvet Elvis paintings and Reba CDs) we'll just sit back and watch. And if the eventual insurgency gives us any crap, we'll just cut off their cable. :)
