America plans to withdraw from Afghanistan in 2006

Uhhh...huh? The country that harboured the 9/11 conspirators, a known terrorist haven, apparently ain't worth America's time. I guess when you invade a completely unrelated country and get bogged down in a never-ending insurgency, you've got to set priorities. Idiots.

Bush doesn't just screw up. Everytime he does something, it is so far removed from the right thing to do that it's almost suspicious.

This sounds terrible, but Katrina happened at just the opportune time for the political fallout to do the most damage to Bush. People are already getting fed up with a pointless war that doesn't look to be over anytime soon, but Katrina just demonstrated how FUBAR the Bush administration is. It really challenged the legitimacy of a government that claims its top priority is preventing terrorism. Maybe it is, but it's clear they can't do squat once said terrorists (or in this case, a natural disaster) have struck.

And one thing that always puzzled me is how everyone dances around Pakistan, resulting in Bin Laden futzing around in the mountainous border regions (if he isn't driving a cab in New York or something :) ) yet marching into a completely sovereign nation and badly mismanaging the place is somehow OK.
