latest Apple rumours

Macworld San Francisco is the biggest Mac event of the year, and traditionally the time when Apple trots out a real "ooo, ahhhh" type product. The rumors are flying fast and furious, but amongst the speculation is a Intel-based Mac Mini with built in DVR functionality, and various laptop configurations, again with Intel chips under the hood. Perhaps the least credible rumor is of a networked iPod with a built in camera. It's possible, but I doubt we'd see something like that so soon after the iPod video was released.

Still, get speculatin', fellow Mac geeks! We've got a month to let our imaginations run wild before "just one more thing" turns out to be a pink iPod shuffle.

That networked iPod sounds pretty cool...and really, it wouldn't be a hell of a lot of work for Apple to throw a microphone right onto the earbuds. It's always a pain in the ass to take out your earphones to answer the phone, so if Apple found a way to use your iPod as a cell, that'd be kind of cool. And if they extended it further with wifi and video chat, even better. And of course the whole reason to build the thing in the first place is for people to download music on the road. But that's something they'd have to lay a LOT of groundwork to pull off, so I'm betting that'll be a summer release, if it isn't just the figment of a bunh of Mac nerds imaginations in the first place.
