Bush's "projection of strength" in Iraq backfires

Of the many reasons cited for marching into Iraq, a country that had nothing to do with 9/11 and is currently sinking into anarchy, the one still being clung to by the Bush administration is a projection of strength, meant to make the ousting of Saddam Hussein an example to anyone in the world foolish enough to taunt the all-powerful American military.

But it turns out America, for all its amazing technology and death-dealing precision arms, can't deal very well with a bunch of guys with truck-bombs and a firmly-held ideology. And the Iraq misadventure, instead of projecting force throughout the world, is exposing America's soft underbelly and giving Islamist radicals just the encourgement they need to ramp up their war on the West.
