Radio Free Skaro #8, part 1

Since I'm in Edmonton for the weekend, Steven and I got together and did two "live" podcasts, commentaries for Army of Ghosts and Doomsday. The first one is up already (web, feed, direct download), and I'm going to release the next one next week.

Good commentary, guys. It's always nice to hear fan stuff like this where everyone can quite easily follow the context. Many kudos for avoiding the biggest pitfall of commentaries -- silence! It's rare to hear commentaries (professional or otherwise) where large gaps of silence don't occur. Looking forward to the finale...

Oh, and Grace Park... lucky bastard. =P

Thanks for the kind comments, Chris. I was wary that we would clam up 10 minutes into the the first episode, but, alas, that was not the case. I reckon this means that we're well on the way to clocking in some 2-hour-plus podcasts for Series 3.

It's a pity that it would be so diffcult to do commentaries over the web, because it was a great deal of fun to do.

Yup, thanks Chris. Sorry we never got a chance to give you a shout-out; we were kind of distrated by the goings-on with the show. Looks like Torchwood is on its way, so we'll have part 2 of the commentary next week, and then we should be able to roll into a review of Torchwood. The trailer just came out, btw....get torrenting!

Thanks, but I'll stick with my source for MPG2 copies of DW and Torchwood materials. None of this silly xvid stuff. =)

Eh, I always buy the DVD box sets when they come out anyway, so a little xvid convenience won't kill me.

BTW, myself and a friend were just discussing a mutual acquaintance frm the old Dr Who club days (and later, BAKA) who built up a truly monumental videotape collection, along with a huge set of vcrs and a projection tv to watch all the sci fi that's graced out televisions over the last 20 years. Me, I just waited until technology caught up and vastly prefer my lazy method otyping show names into a torrent search engine. Season upon season burned onto dvd-rs, all through the power of sheer laziness. :)

I too bought the S1 box set (R2 release, and will be doing so for S2 as well since I prefer to have the episodes in their natural resolution, and PAL is higher-res than NTSC to boot), but even for interim viewing I've been lucky enough to grab MPG2 copies for everything that's come out (both DW series, DW Confidential, interviews and news stories, heck, even the Torchwood trailer released the other day). The downside has been having to wait a little longer for those than the quickly-released xvids.

And someone like that from both 10-0 and BAKA would have to be Vlad or Greg I imagine... in either case, they've had quite impressive collections. I recall Greg having an unparalleled collection when it came to missing DW episodes back when such things were nearly-impossible to obtain. It was cool back then, but I wholeheartedly agree with the lazy approach these days, simply because there's so much out there that requires little to no effort to obtain. The amount of TV stuff I have backlogged is staggering just because it's all sitting out there for the taking.

Yup, I was referring to Vald. I'm not insulting him, or Greg...both of those collections were pretty damned impresive at the time. But I'm like you...I've rabbed enough stuff that I may eventually get around to watching (but probably won't, since i have two jobs, a girlfriend and a crippling WoW addiction) that are far too easy to download, burn, and keep on a back shelf somewhere.

If you poke around Google searches, you'll note that Vlad is actually still active in the anime music video hatchetry he's done for so many years.

I just found this on YouTube... I'm afraid it hits a little close to home for me in some respects. I'm sure all of us DW fans can find parts that seem a little too real... =)
