Radio Free Skaro #28 - Eccleston part the second

We end our retrospective with the denouement of Eccleston's TARDIS tenure, and wax lyrical on the highlights (Father's Day, Boom Town, Parting of the Ways) and lowlights (Bad Wolf...maybe?), as well as covering a bit of news, the building tension over the impending premiere of Season 3 this Saturday, and making you all suffer through sporadic coughing by Warren. Next up: Smith and Jones! (feed, web, direct download)

We missed this bit of breaking news on the cast : Episodes 3, 5, and 13 will bear the following titles :

Gridlock
Evolution of the Daleks
Last of the Time Lords

Oooooo! I like the "Evolution" after the biblical theme used in some of the titles in the past.

Yeah, just saw that. Last of the Time Lords? Hmmm....maybe they'll somehow reintegrate Gallifrey into the proceedings. Either way, we've got some speculatin' to do.

By the way, Mel and I were talking about coming out to Edmonton in early July for a wedding. My first thought was.. "How does that fit into the schedule....can we do a live commentary podcast for the finale?" :)

Episode 13's title no doubt has some bearing on the return of the Master, but I doubt there's anything more than that about it (eg. reintegration of Gallifreyburg). We already know John Simm's appearance is toward the end of the series...

And Evolution of the Daleks is far better than the near-ripoff of a Muppets movie title for Episode 4. =)

As for the nobody dies discussion for The Empty Child/The Doctor Dances, neither of you remembered the first time that no deaths occurred... which happened to be very, very early in the show's run.

Edge of Destruction, anyone? =)

On today's Blue Peter there was a nice bit with Freema and a clip from Smith & Jones with her and Tennant (what else!) running down corridors. How Who!

Here's Freema Agyeman's appearance on BBC Breakfast on March 27, including a couple clips from "S n' J".

You have, Freyburg. About seven times. Make that eight now.

And that would be totally sweet to do another commentary finale for "Last of the Time Lords" in early July. Freakin' sweet, one might almost say.

In fact, I can't tell which people would be looking forward to more - the show or the podcast. Definitely and even split....

I'm not trying to put you or Freeme Agyeman down here Warren but I sometime get the feeling that if a light post had the shape of a perfect butt you would say it its the Hotness.

I have to say that I like watch I have seen on the trailers for the new season but, and there is always one of those, The trailers could very well be showing us what is the only good parts of the new season.

Hmm, nah, I'm a little more discerning than that. It better be one sexy light post!

A capture of the new trailer running on the BBS Red Button service. Featuring snaps of Jack, Jacobi, the pig, and a whole lot more we've not seen before. Yum!

Er, make that BBC.

And, if anyone wants it, I'm hosting a much, much better copy of it (man I love my sources!) at http://www.cburgess.ca/doctor.who.2007.bbci.trailer.mpg

It's about 31MB, widescreen, etc. Far nicer than the YouTube version to say the least... =)

Everyone be sure to watch tonight's Graham Norton show featuring Tennant as a guest... including a lovely bit where a chat-up line of David's is published in a lonely hearts section of a gay adult magazine.

the.graham.norton.show.s01e06.ws.pdtv.xvid-remax.avi is what you're looking for. That being said, while I grabbed the Graham Norton show hours ago, I have yet to see tonight's Dead Ringers, also featuring Tennant. It should have been out 7 or 8 hours ago...

There's a ton of stuff out there on the eve of the debut. Luckily, I'm on a sick day (again, but a different ailment), so all I have the energy to do is to listen to and wtach all the Who media coverage coming down the pipe from the Kingdom right now.

I'm looking forward to the special edition of Weakest Link to air tonight... I'm amazed the results have been kept so quiet since it was taped in November or so.

If this year is like last year, we'll see about half a dozen or more groups releasing the xvids of the show. That being said, doctor.who.2005.s03e01.ws.pdtv.xvid-blnt.avi is a-downloadin'... whee!

I've finished Smith & Jones... in a word, fantastic. Martha looks like she'll make a wonderful companion... already I like her more than Rose (though I never cared much for Rose). This is also, by far, RTD's best opener script. Unfortunately, the bar was set quite low with the dreck that was Rose and New Earth... both of which earned the lowest or next-to-lowest rank in their respective seasons on my list.

I expected to hate it just as I disliked Rose and New earth for series openers, but I definitely liked this one. The Judoon were actually quite cool once you see them in context.

I also have to say that I was quite impressed with this episode. Who knew that RTD could actually write a good episode for DW. Got a laugh out of the Compensation line in the episode ( hmmm this could be slightly spoilerish will go no further) I think that Jones will make a good companion for the Doctor. I just hope that they don't have the Doctor Romancing her like he did with Rose.
I'm hoping that this will be a sign that this season will not be a silly one.

RTD can write well, but it's the exception rather than the rule. I've got Army of Ghosts ranked as my favourite of series 2, for instance... and End of the World is in the top 3 from series 1 on my list.

That being said, Smith and Jones isn't without its issues, but compared to Rose and New Earth it's a gem. It's definitely ranked the highest for series 3 so far! =)

(Mind you, it's not hard to beat the absolute crap from Runaway Bride...)

I forget offhand if it was ever sorted, but the name of the actress Steven referred to a number of podcasts ago as being in both Paradise Towers and Bad Wolf is Nisha Nayar...
