Considering that we are a pretty techy nation it is a shame! They better not hold out Leopard on us!
Not anytime soon, according to the Globe and Mail. Can't say I'm surprised, and with current Canadian data plans, the phone would be cripplingly expensive to use at its full potential anyway, but...somewhat disappointing regardless.

They probably won't...OS X hasn't ever been held back before. I'm reasonably certain our completely broken cell phone carriers are to blame here, more than Apple.
Personally I can wait I'm not completely happy with the iPhone so I can wait till the bugs are worked out.
I would rather have a linux based cell phone over the iPhone there is a lot more flexibility of control over them than the iPhone will have. and you can get them here in Canada I think.

Loads of phones are out there running Linux... I didn't look closely enough to have any idea of which are available in Canada though, or which carriers offer use of those phones.
