New York mayor and noted billionaire Mike Bloomberg recently announced his shift to "Independent" status, a move widely seen as mere preparation for a run at the White House. I'm not overly familiar with the guy's policies, but at first glance I'm inclined to say he wouldn't make a bad choice. The New Yorker says much the same, though in a much more NY-centric fashion.
