Radio Free Skaro #38 - Blink!

Warren and Steven praise the thrills, chils, and statuary of Blink, the "Doctor Lite" episode that aired over the weekend across the pond. We also genuflect about the excellent episode of Dr Who Confidential that followed it, directed by and starring one David Tennant, an actor of little renown whom I'm sure will fade into well deserved obscurity soon. :) Along the way we're sidetracked into a discussion of Doctor Who spinoffs and other such ephemera, as well as specualtion on next week's episode, "Utopia." Just a heads up -- you gave the wrong hostname for the libsyn feed for the podcast.

And for Steven's curiosity, tours at the BBC are £9.50 and must be prebooked in advance. =)

Well finally started to catch up on my podcasting, and Chris puts it I listen to way to many 'casts. now speaking of DW I thing that Blink is the best episode of the season, I also find it interesting that its the one DW episode that we have the very little of the Doctor plus one. Also really enjoyed the confidential episode as well, which is something considering that I don't usually bother with them because they tend to bore me. Maybe they should let David continue doing them.

Neat, Barrowman gets his billing in the opening credits alongside David and Freema in Utopia...

Well it would be agony if I was not going to be so busy with work.
Good episode, hope the next one is not going to be predicable with how things are going to go down with the Doctor and the bad guy in the next episode.

The trailer for next week really didn't turn my crank, but as for Utopia itself... sweet zombie jesus was that phenomenal. Once the action kicked in it had you by the throat, and some of the bits with Jack were priceless. I've got some lingering issues, some of which I hope will get explained in the final two episodes, but it's a no-brainer (in my books) to give this a 5. It'll be the fourth 5 in a row from me, something which I thought unlikely given how disappointed I was with how the series began.

And I'm glad Confidential covered the farting competitions John and David had on-set... after all, we only had one side of the story from David's appearance on the Graham Norton show back in April.

One thing I noticed about the trailer is that the Doctor doesn't appear anywhere in it. I can't see them just shooting a Doctor-less episode (after Blink), but it'll be interesting to see how they can get back to the 21st century. My money is on Jack's burned out time hopping dealy.

This new Master is a little wackier than the old ones, but much as I like the old "evil elegance" of Delgado/Ainley, I can't see that working as well against Tennant's Doctor or with today's audiences. This new Master seems to be a complete maniac, and if they do it right, it could be amazing.

Ok, I want to type a couple more pages of ravings, but I have to save this stuff for the podcast. :)
