Silicon Valley millionaires don't feel rich..

...to which I say, "boo frickin' hoo." But judge for yourself if Silicon Valley's minted middle-class has it rough.

Yeah, I guess it's all a matter of your point-of-view. For example, I can't afford to buy a place to live in Alberta given the rapid appreciation in prices.

I mentioned this two one of my old friends, and he lamented he can't upsize from his starter home, now worth about $450k, because bigger ones cost too much. Had he made the jump earlier, he could have afforded it, but now the size he wants cost $750k.

Sigh.

There are apparently classes for the kids of the wealthy to train them how to do things normal people take for granted, thanks to being shielded from reality growing up.

Same thing out here in Vancouver. My condo is 675 square feet and in a trendy part of downtown, and I bought it for 330k. It's appreciated to about 410k now....but same deal, if I wanted to upgrade everything else is an arm and a leg too. Still, at least I have a pretty low mortgage...I've read that a lot of people are pouring 70 percent of their combined family income in their home, and that's utter madness.
