Platformer – Episode 9

by Warren Frey

Like every other podcast on the internet, we led off with discussion on Steve Jobs resignation from Apple, then branched off into whether Apple can stay “Apple,” as well as discussing the oft-rumoured Apple television set that may or may not happen. Speaking of TV, Google told the television industry to go to hell (except it didn’t). We also looked at the new Mozilla WebAPI, an awesome gaming laptop from Razer, and much, much more.

Chip gets a TouchPad, HP gives up on PCs (and TouchPads), Robert Scoble doesn’t love Twitter anymore, Chrome extensions can be riddled with malware, and Apple might be making its own chipsets for Macbooks after all.

Platformer – Episode 3

by Warren Frey

A surprisingly games-lite episode of Platformer, with our heroes studiously analyzing the latest Apple rumours, the broken state of broadcasting in this Space Year 2011, the even more broken patent system, and why RIM sucks even more than usual.

Platformer – episode 2

by Warren Frey

Lots and lots of Apple news and speculation, including the possibility of an iPad Pro, Zynga being Zynga, Free to Play taking names and kicking buttocks, and lots of banter about app stores and ecosystems. Plus we sorta kinda lament the move from tinkerer/geek toy to everyday device our good friend the computer has taken in the last few years.

Platformer – Episode 1

by Warren Frey

A new era dawns! Introducing the Platformer Podcast, an expanded pallete for the hosts of the (now former) Fruitygamer podcast to expound on more than just Apple and games. We’ll still cover those subjects in depth, but we wanted a forum where we could rant, rave and cogitate about all manner of tech, gadgetry and games. This episode we look at Google Plus, the continuing Final Cut Pro X debacle, World of Warcraft going free to play, and the iCade, plus a whole lot more! Enjoy, and please tell us what you think o the new format, the new title, or anything else.

In the weeks to come we’ll revamap the site, change the url and try to add new and different content, but for right now we wanted to just get our new format out there.

The Fruitygamer Podcast! – episode 36

by Warren Frey

Even though we’re nominally a gaming podcast, the disastrous release of Final Cut Pro X deserved some attention…and Chip managed to wrangle things back to gaming with a comparison between the FCP X launch and Star Wars: Galaxies debacle of many moons ago. Also, Marathon is coming to iOS, the iPhone 5 is apparently Apple’s first step to world gaming domination, and the United States Supreme Court has just ruled games are a form of expression and thus subject to free speech protection. Heady stuff. Enjoy!
