So I’ve finally broken the chains of Telus. My sister and I switched contracts, so now I’m the proud owner of a Motorola V635. This little beast packs a lot of features into $150 worth of phone; mp3 player, color screens, video player, Java games and most importantly, Bluetooth. Having the Norse king’s networking protocol allows me to load all sorts of stuff into the phone without paying a premium to Telus. For instance, like the total nerd I am, I created a ringtone out of the new Doctor Who theme, along with some Public Enemy and Air tunes and a few other movie scores. Oh, and it syncs up my address book and iCal appointments on my Mac, which may not be all that cool but sure is convenient.

It also has an SD card (32 meg standard, but you can throw a one gig card in there if you want), which means I could load it up with videos for my commute to and from work. I wouldn’t bother with music, since the iPod works just fine, but being able to watch the Simpsons on the Skytrain holds a certain appeal. 🙂

Oh yes, and there’s also a 1.3 megapixel camera built in, so my phonecam pics on Flickr should look a little better from now on. And because I won’t be getting charged to send them (Bluetooth=free) I’ll be taking a lot more impromptu pictures.
