My thoughts on the iPad featured in the Vancouver Sun

by

Vancouver Sun tech reporter Gillian Shaw interviewed myself and several other technology enthusiasts on the day of the Apple iPad announcement, and you can check out my thoughts online on her blog (as well as in yesterday’s dead tree version of the Vancouver Sun.) Techvibes.com also reposted “The iPad cometh“. Neat!

I think you’re under-selling the capacity of the device to be good for content creation.

On my iphone I can do photo and movie editing, document writing and more via the apps that people have made. The ipad runs those apps, so the ipad starts out at least as good for creating content as the iphone, and that will grow as developers (the ones not busy wailing about the approval process) develop for the larger form factor.

Apple might launch it out of the gate with a focus on content creation, but the capabilities that third party apps can add change that character for those who want to change it.
