Online sitcoms

by

The Burg is an online sitcom centred around Williamsburg, New York’s hipper-than-thou Brooklyn neighbourhood. What little I’ve seen of the show is “ehhh…” at best, but it is interesting that people are attempting to duplicate TV on the web. That becomes more viable as AppleTV and other “push to the living room” solutions gain traction. NewTeeVee has an interview with the show’s creators that delves into why they’re doing long-form content and how the show is as of yet not making any money.

Warren Frey is a journalist, freelance writer, podcaster, video producer, and all-around media consultant currently based in Vancouver, Canada. His written work has appeared in such publications as Metro Vancouver, the Westender, Mac | Life and the Japan Times.
