The East Van Podcast: Episode 1
by Warren
Myself and my friend Jon hatched upon the idea a while back to make a video podcast about East Vancouver, the neighbourhoods where most trends in this town originate before they get co-opted by the mainstream. Think of the neighbourhood around a university crossed with the grungier part of town and you get the general idea. After a few fits and starts with schedules and editing, we finally got this thing put together, and we’ll be doing more of them in the immediate future.

Interesting but I don’t think your going to make a living at it. there is not money in podcasting. Just the love of all things pod.
Podcasts are (at the moment) loss leaders. Basically we did this so Jon would have a bit of a demo reel and could get some experience hosting a show, and just to do it. Podcasts will drive people to a site where you can have ads, though. It’s early days, and it never hurts to jump in and just do it.
I like the idea of grassroots regional storytelling. I was just mentioning to someone about the early days of a website called http://www.turnhere.com. Taking another look at their site, I see they’ve turned into more of a freelance service provider as opposed to the open forum for regional video content I was hoping for.
East Van could use many more such podcasts, tours, and vid interviews. Maybe next time, you can feature more than one store? I especially love the shops of Main Street, but to be honest, I’ve never walked into the “Temple of the Modern Girl.” So, are guys allowed to just walk in!?
Yessir, the store is most definitely unisex, in fact, if you see me wearing a “bowler” in the future it will be from that store. That’s right….I said “bowler”.
Hey thanks Jordan. We’ll be doing more of these once I’m back from Edmonton, High def camcorder in tow.
