Go through the trouble of Salon‘s day pass hooha to read this guide to the current state of the Iraqi insurgency (or insurgencies, really.) One of the best points in the article points to the fact that people are more likely to side with Al Queda than the US in one of the most Westernized states in the Middle East. Way to go, America.
