The world of electronics is

by

The world of electronics is a fickle place. Back in the old days, Sony stood for quality products. Well, those days are over. Apple (!) has been whupping Sony’s ass for a while now with it’s iPod and iPod Mini audio players. It’s pretty sad to see the guys who invented the Walkman take it in the chin from a computer company (albeit my favorite computer company), but there we are. Newly released junk that relies on idiotic copyright protection like ATRAC doesn’t help matters either.

But Sony manages to come out swinging on one front: games. The new PSP portable gaming system looks pretty damn sweet. They claim it has PS2 level graphics. I’ll believe that when I see it, but it’d be real cool to play first person shooters and Grand Theft Auto on a portable unit. And surprisingly, the newly introduced Nintendo DS isn’t anywhere near as dumb looking as I thought it would be.
