"New Audio Showroom" on WPR

I got an email today from Doug Gordon, a producer with Wisconsin Public Radio. He reads the blog (yes, I know, I thought only five people including immediate family read this thing, too) and wanted me to link to his show, which deals this week with how Canadians differ from Americans.

How did this Doug Gordon stumble across your blog?

Turns out he used to work on The Radio Show on CBC back in the day, and he googled the show name and my site popped up, thanks to this trenchant little missive..

...about the CBC and how some of it is still great, while other shows blow. But the key was my description of the Radio Show as akin to sitting down at a bbq with friends, a burger and a beer, and all's right with the universe. :)

Would love to check it out, but of course it's only offered in REAL, which means an automatic pass for me.

I won't install that shit on my computer again. Ever.

Hah.. I hear ya ... the trick with Real is to set it so that it doesn't automatically try to install crap in your registry every time you run it... and even then, sometimes "tkbell" shows up in:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\
Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run

I have the above key and its little brother

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\
Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run

bookmarked in regedit so that I can pop it open and scan them once in a while, since these two locations are the most likely places for spyware and virus software to install themselves to.

I personally wouldn't use Real at all except that quite a few free por... um... nevermind... :)

By the way, very cool that the archives are getting crawled by Google... I guess I should put the other 700 entries from 2001-2003 up for Freyburg and this site will stand a chance of getting even more hits...

By the way, did you ask for a link back or a plug on-air, even?

On the other hand, sooner or later some asinine comment from my past will come back and bite me a new one. Oh well, them's the breaks, Frey. :)

And no, I forgot to ask for a link back. Not a bad idea, though I question where you could fit it into the show...
