pictures from Fallujah (warning: very graphic)

Here's a gallery of the taking and aftermath of the U.S. Armed Forces operations in Fallujah. These pictures are really graphic; I could only get halfway through, and I've got a pretty strong stomach for this kind of stuff. Still, it's important to see what's going on over there, and not what the Pentagon (or Osama, for that matter) says is going on.

Oh yeah. Winning hearts, minds, and apparently spleen and viscera. Those poor Iraqi National Guard guys don't look like they stood a chance.

If US policy towards Iraq stays status quo, I bet this thing goes on for, well, forever. Bets?

Oh yeah, I'm saying 5 years at least. The difference between this and Vietnam is that the US went into the war with probably a third of its population against the idea, which is now up to about half, if the election is any indication. Vietnam took forever before people declared it complete and utter bullshit.

But on the other hand, Johnson and Nixon didn't have the caliber of sycohantic yes-men surrounding them that Bush does.

Jesus, Nixon had a bunch of guys with a more realistic view of the world than the current administration. That's scary.
