Eccleston quits as Doctor Who...WTFBBQ?

That was quick. Christoper Eccleston has quit as the new Doctor Who. Too bad, as I thought he was quite good in the role (though I've only seen the first episode). Oh well, get regeneratin'!

test? You're a Dalek agent! :)

Saw the "new dimensions" thing, btw...though they took a few liberties linking each Doctor to their time period, some of that footage looks pretty cool. I like the crazy CG skin creature, and the Dickens episode also looks pretty cool.

Twice I tried to post from work, and it redirected me to a page called "fuckyouspammers.cgi"....is there something you don't like about where I work?

I liked Eccleston, but you could tell in various interviews leading up to the premiere that he was very non comittal about returning. Something tells me this decision was made on his part a long time ago.

Oh, and the CBC website is up and running now. It looks pur-dee.

Hah, no that's a defense against the ridiculous amount of comment spam I was getting from "online poker" and the like. Dunno why it's screwing you, other than your workplace clearly being evil. :)

I find it odd Eccleston said the schedule is grueling....he's done TV before, right? That Casanova show looks kind of interesting, by the way...looks like they roped Peter O'Toole into the proceedings.

And might I be the first to say that the one-two punch of HD cameras and CG seems to have not only produced Star Wars films crammed with crap, but also given the BBC a leg-up in the visuals. Now, finallly, the generally top knotch writing on a lot of BBC shows can be matched with the look.

Bang on scripts matched with superb visuals. Could this be the true "golden age" of Doctor Who? Or is that blasphemous?

I'd define Doctor Who's golden age as the middle years of the Tom Baker era...but this is definitely up there. And it's tough to compare...it still feels like Who, but it's not the old show in a lot of ways, which is good when all's said and done.

I was at the grocery store last night and saw Dr. Who on the cover of TV Guide. I actually said out loud "I never thought I'd see the day...eat it, non-Who bitches!" :)

Yeah, I picked that one up. See Magazine, here in Edmonton, also boldly had a Doctor Who story on their cover. I picked up five of those. And the Globe and Mail from last Saturday. I hope I don't become one of those people who needs to buy everything involving Doctor Who in Canada, because it may become an expensive, and time wasting, procedure.
