Looks real nice, but I want 8 core MacPros! My money is burning a hole in my pocket Apple!
Oh, this baby looks pretty sweet. Apple took a look at the current cell-phone market, said "feh", and introduced this sexy little number today at Macworld. Nobody's done any hands-on with it yet, but the fact that it's an iPod, phone, and internet device all in one, and that it runs OS X, really raises the bar not only for the mobile phone industry but for computing in general. It comes out in June, which gives me time to start saving my pennies. It'll be interesting to see if I can use Garageband on it, and be able to blog, podcast and maybe even vidcast while I'm on the road.

Note that the iPhone is a GSM world phone. That means only Rogers-Fido could carry it here in Canada. But yes, the iPhone sure is one stunning device. I don't think anyone possibly expected this much!
I suspect we'll see new multimedia iPods in the near future that use the same technology. But for Macworld, Apple understandably wanted to blow the audience away with a convergence device. And so they did! Makes my Treo look like a tin dog.
I'm glad I didn't succumb to the Razr or the Blackberry Pearl, because this bad boy laughs at them as it kicks sand in their face.
I'm cool with Rogers carrying it, as that's my phone company. But Canadian carriers had better get some reasonable data plans out there, or I'll only ever use this thing at wifi hotspots. And here's hoping you can put Skype on it....
I specifically bought my Treo from Bell because they didn't require me to get a data plan, and discounted the smartphone even with just a voice plan. Data rates for cell phones in Canada are robbery, plain and simple.
Let's take a look at closing stock prices for today:

iPhone pr0n.
I love it... except it's more than I need for a device, so it's nothing I'd be getting.
Well, since all Chris wants is an MP3 player, the more features Apple keeps adding to these portable devices (e.g. Video iPod, iPhone), the less attractive they are to him. Ya can't win!
Unfortunately, the iPhone will be locked against any third-party applications being installed on it. This doesn't bode well for VOIP-type applications. No big surprise; would the service providers really stand for functionality that would eat away at their profits?
