Microsoft Expression event at Canvas Lounge

I got invited to a Microsoft event last Thursday introducing Microsoft Expression to Vancouver's tech community. Though I'm a big tech-head, I was there more because of my blogging and PR background, and I was also able to suggest a few names to the people at High Road Communications who put on the event, amongst them Boris Mann, who did a good write-up about the event. I also shot some video as a test run of some possible future vlogging, so expect to see that up on the net in the next few days. I'm hoping to cover local tech stuff and other events in more detail once we ramp up our redesign of Freyburg.com down the road.....more on that later.

I recently obtained this here Expression deal in an attempt to make head and/or tail of this here CSS thing that is sweeping the nation. So far, no luck - still dumb as a post. Any help would be appreciated, Mr. Gates.

Heh. I've found the lynda.com tutorials to be a goldmine of instructional goodness. $25 a month, and you get access to a ton of videos that explain in great detail how many a media program works. Mel's using it to learn Photoshop and I'm using it to break out of years of bad Final Cut Pro habits. I'm sure there's probably something for Microsoft expression in there too.

Hey, are you guys going all Microsoft on us?

It's interesting to watch the trends of friends and relatives and their computer use. I have one cousin that used to report for the local paper in Calgary and was a Mac guy. Now that he works in the press office at the U. of C., he seems to be switching, down to even buying a Motorola Q for his smartphone.

I've managed to partially convert some of my other relatives over to the Mac, the biggest coup being my father.

But I digress, this post is obviously way off topic.

Hah....no way, I cut the video on my Macbook Pro. I am emphatically not going Microsoft (though i do dual boot for some sweet Counterstrike action.) The event just happened to have been put on by the Boys from Redmond.
