Naomi Klein's "Shock Doctrine"

Naomi Klein, the author of "No Logo", has a new book out called "The Shock Doctrine" about how corporations take advantage of disasters for profit. In an interview with Salon she ties together Iraq, New Orleans post-Katrina, Sri Lanka after the tsunami and the current subprime mortgage meltdown. Interesting.

She was on The Hour the other day (at the very least, her interview from The Hour hit the show's podcast feed on iTunes the other day). I bought a copy of No Logo back in the day but never managed to make it through to the end, but she certainly seemed like a nice and knowledgeable person from the interview.

Yeah, I'm not sure I buy 100 percent of the argument, but she certainly seems to have her head screwed on properly. I did read No Logo, and it raises some good points, though it doesn't mention that the left can be just as dogmatic and personality driven as the right.

Just finished watching the interview, have to say that I quite enjoyed it. I remember her book No Label but I never bothered to read it. I also doubt that I'll read the new one as well. Just not in a place in my life were I want to get into reading that sort of topics.
