Filmmaker praises piracy community

The makers of “The Man from Earth,” an independent sci-fi film, have taken the unusual step of contacting RLSLOG, one of the better known torrent sites. But instead of cursing them up and down and accusing them of taking money from their pockets, they’ve actually said that having the film out and about on the internet has radically increased interest in their work.

Warren Frey is a journalist, freelance writer, podcaster, video producer, and all-around media consultant currently based in Vancouver, Canada. His written work has appeared in such publications as Metro Vancouver, the Westender, Mac | Life and the Japan Times.

Arrr, finally someone that has eyes. Yes exposure is not steeling. Those that sneeked into theaters to see Star Wars did go back and pay to see it 5 more times, and bought the VHSs and DVDs. Time to wake up media moguls.
