Radio Free Skaro #66 – Random Ruminations

by

Somehow, despite an almost complete lack of news, the RFS crew managed to pack together almost an hour of action-packed banter, hilarity and mumblesuch into the latest podcast. Enjoy our digressions and debate, and stay tuned for next week when we’ll have the premiere of the second season of Torchwood to mull over and…well, another 40-odd minutes of banter. Jean-Paul Samson says:

You guys missed the news that Tom MacRae’s script has been dropped from series four.

Jean-Paul Samson says:

I don’t think actors such as David Jason get locked into one network and cannot appear in another network’s shows. Heck, Billie Piper is now an ITV girl doing Secret Diaries, yet she’s able to come back to the BBC’s Doctor Who to play Rose between series.

Chris Burgess says:

I’d not heard about MacRae’s script being dropped. Given they’re 2/3 done filming I’m sure the replacement has long been known to the production team, but has anything public about it come out, like who’s picking up the slack?

Jean-Paul Samson says:

It’s stated by RTD in the latest DWM. Apparently, it turns out MacRae’s story was too similar to another one in series four.

I gather that the production over-commissions scripts, so there may have been a suitable backup story in the wings anyway. No idea who’s it is. Historically, RTD has hacked out the replacement scripts, but that may not have been necessary for this instance.

I Am Steven says:

“Fear Her” by Matthew Graham was the replacement for Stephen Fry’s script in series 2, and we were all the better for that.
