The most powerful man in Iraq

Newsweek has an interesting profile of Grand Ayatollah Ali Sistani, who they describe as the most powerful man in Iraq. Seems he’s the one who really pushed for elections and who continues to keep the majority of the Shia population from jumping on the insurgency bandwagon.

Warren Frey is a journalist, freelance writer, podcaster, video producer, and all-around media consultant currently based in Vancouver, Canada. His written work has appeared in such publications as Metro Vancouver, the Westender, Mac | Life and the Japan Times.
