Todbits.tv hits the net

by

Tod Maffin, blogger, CBC technologist and radio guy extraordinaire, has a new online TV show called Todbits.tv, where he gives out live tech advice, in addition to profiling movers and shakers in the Canadian technology scene.

What I really like about the show is that it’s fairly simple, but gets the point across quite effectively. I took broadcast production in school and worked in the industry for six years, so my first instinct is to make everything look slick and fancy, but I think that’s actually counterproductive on the Internet. On the net, honesty and transparency are (at least for now) more important than slick presentation. I think that’s partly due to the fact that you’re an active participant seeking out things to watch, as opposed to TV, which is designed to distract you with as many quick cuts and flashing lights as possible in order to get you to not switch the channel before the commercial.

At any rate, check out the show, along with Tod’s blog.
