America’s economy headed for the toilet, says Morgan Stanley poobah..

by Warren

According to a high-up at Morgan Stanley, America can’t sustain it’s record deficits, and disaster may be on the horizon. Apparently the credit card debt in the country is just insane, and people are spending a lot of their disposable income just paying off the interest. And the interest rates haven’t been hiked yet, which will eventually have to happen. What that means for Canada isn’t for a dunderhead like me to say, but I’d assume “not good” just about covers it.

Prince Charles, monumentally out of touch jackass

by Warren

The Independent has an article about how Prince Charles berated not only a member ofhis staff for ideas above her station, ie) getting a promotion for good work, but also the entire British educational system for instilling hope in the lives of those less drab and wealthy than him, like..practically everyone. It also goes into his typical day, and believe you me, the sheer amount of pampering he gets is pretty sickening.

the death of VHS…

by Warren

A retrospective on the format nobody uses anymore; well, at least not snobby technophiles like myself and my peers. 🙂

And since I usually link to the Guardian on a pretty regular basis, I’m adding it to the left sidebar.

This will be a day long remembered…

by Warren

Well, tomorrow will be, more accurately, as it’s the 41st anniversary of the debut of the greatest television show ever to grace the tube.

And it’s coming back next year.

CSM on the rapidly tanking US dollar

by Warren

The greenback ain’t doing that hot right now, though surprisingly I haven’t wandered five minutes south of the border in quite some time to take advantage of the situation. Of course, other than cheap gas (which work pays for anyway) there isn’t much in Oroville that isn’t already up here (other than a ton of American flags.)

EA a slave pit, according to NYT

by Warren

This article about Electronic Arts alleges the employees there work like dogs for little reward. Dunno if it’s true, though I know a couple of people inside the Fortress of Gaming who could confirm or deny the gist of the piece.

Video blogging?

by Warren

Yup, that’s right, videoblogging. I got an iSight as a birthday present, primarily because my dad is soon going to be the proud owner of a new 20″ iMac G5, and we’ll be able to videochat to one another. But another added bonus is that in theory I could record video rants and post them on the Interweb, or shoot little mini-stories and put those up to. Will I? I’m both busy and lazy, so maybe not. But it’s a neat idea.

WTF is with celebrity magazines?

by Warren

So I’m in the grocery store today, glancing at the magazines as I stock up on fibre, eggs, and other-fat busting foodstuffs. I was puzzled as to why so many “teen” publications have people who are pushing 30 on their cover. Gwen Stefani was on one of the teen rags, but I’ve seen other supposedly “young” celebrities gracing the covers of Cosmo Jailbait, Seventeen, and other synergized tween rags. By far the worst has to be the cover of Teen People I saw with 50 Cent on the cover. “Hey kids, getting shot up like Fitty in a crack deal gone sour is COOL!” is about the message a cover like that sends to the youth of America.

Of course, the youth of America are probably mere months away from being drafted into getting shot in Iraq anyway, so maybe it’s a moot point who they think is cool and why. 🙁
