The Fruitygamer Podcast! – episode 29
by Warren Frey
Rumours of ARM processors in Mac laptops, new iMacs, Chinese riots, and one hell of a lot of talk about comic books, all in the latest episode of Fruitygamer!
Rumours of ARM processors in Mac laptops, new iMacs, Chinese riots, and one hell of a lot of talk about comic books, all in the latest episode of Fruitygamer!
iClouds, white iPhones, Nokia getting uppity…and games! Order and Chaos gets positive reviews, Portal 2 might be the last single player Valve game, and we both extoll and lament the one dollar game.
Retina Displays on iMacs (not likely), iPhone 5 with multitouch button (crap) and Apple’s location tracking brouhaha (feh.) Three cynical Mac gaming jackanapes prognosticated on all these matters and more, including Real Racing 2 HDMI kludges, the utter awesomeness of Portal 2, and the fact that One Single Life isn’t quite what it seems.
A Chip-less podcast this week, but Todd and Warren are in the same room at the same time. Will wonders never cease? Probably not. They covered the shrinking length of games, the abysmal Blackberry Playbook launch, Portal 2, Final Cut, an Apple television, and a surfeit of other exciting game related news. Excitement! Cats! Echoes!
Atomixmag on the iPad, Final Cut Pro speculation, the ten trippiest games on the iPad, Unpleasant Horse gets an Apple meat grinding, and Warren succumbs to Angry Birds, finally.
Apple moves to the cloud (maybe), the iPhone 5 is delayed until all 2011 (maybe), Final Cut coming to NAB (maybe) and this episode goes out a week late (definitely.) Also, a great ad from Apple.
Rovio as a good and bad week, Hobo with a Shotgun brings the 80′s arcade goodness, GameLoft is cloning WoW, Nintendo does or doesn’t hate indie, and Bulletstorm is a redneck supermodel. All on this episode of the Fruitygamer podcast!
The ground shook, Hell froze over and Chip bought an iPad 2. He gives his impressions, including the overall zippiness of the device, the crapitude of the onboard cameras, and the awesomeness that is Flipboard.
We also covered new versions of Infinity Blade and Dead Space for iOS, the arty Sword and Sworcery (due in a week), and gave our impressions of iOS 4.3. A lengthy digression about Twitter and SXSW finally ended up with what we’ve been playing, which ranges from a running app to an over the top sociopathic killfest. Fun!
Technical difficulties nearly felled the podcast this week, but your favourite Mac gaming nerds soldiered on, discussing the new iPad, the potential of Airplay to usurp the console space, why the Sony NGP is “dead on arrival,” and why the iPad might be the best gaming system ever. At least according to one developer at GDC.
On a very special FruityGamer, Todd and Warren examine the best and worst of iPhone, iPad and Mac gaming in 2010 and hold forth on the future of Apple gaming come 2011. Come back in 2012 and tell us how wrong we were, but in the meantime, listen to our trenchant observations and savvy insights.
