Radio Free Skaro #111 – Swollen Mirth

by Warren

More thrilling commentary, this time for the “Stolen Earth,” clearly the best roller coaster ride of Series 4, if not of the entire run of the new series. It’s all downhill from here though, as “Journey’s End” is coming up next, and we all know how that turned out. Still, witticisms and nerdy banter ahead!

Why Freyburg posting has been light….

by Warren

In a word, self-employment. I’ve been really busy and haven’t had a lot of time to post anything. I’m also trying to refocus the site towards video and video production, rather than the catch-all approach I’ve taken before. That’s mostly due to the fact that I’ve started Freyburg Media (www.freyburgmedia.com), my own video production company. So there may be a little less posting for the next couple of weeks, but rest assured I’ll not only try to find cool stuff to write about but also post videos I’ve produced that are more fun and less business-related.

Freyburg Media 2008 Demo Reel

by Warren

Here’s the demo reel for my video production company, Freyburg Media. Just a sampler of the stuff I’ve worked on and the skills I can bring to a corporate video, podcast, or broadcast television segment.

Radio Free Skaro #110 – As the World Turns Left (and gets stolen at the end)

by Warren

The Three Who Rule were efficacious in their praise for Turn Left, a tour de force performance from Catherine Tate and the best part of Rose’s rather presumptuous arrival into Series 4. Of course, a good episode means we spend most of our time rapt in wonder and not actually commentating, but we made a special effort to lay down some bon mot as we enjoyed things being on Donna’s back, Doctors dying and mirrors sending people sideways through time.

Oh yes, and happy 45th birthday, Doctor Who.

First impressions of iphone’s 2.2 update

by Warren

Apple updated the iPhone system software to 2.2 late this week, and so far I’m impressed. New features include street views (for some cities) in Google Maps, a redesigned Safari, and the absolutely welcomed ability to download podcasts directly into the iPhone from the iTunes store. Never mind that the process is a little clunky, just the fact that I can do it is pretty impressive. Equally cool, bit not as glitzy, is the fact that you can now hit “update all” to update your apps, and they’ll update all at once. More importantly, the icons now stay just where you left them, rather than you having to move them around every time a feature gets changed. Other than that…it’s the same iPhone as always. Apparently Apple has added a bunch of “emoji” icons, which is important to the Japanese market, but doesn’t do much for me.

Blogging from the iphone

by Warren

Just doing a test of blogging from my Iphone. Which, until Apple allows me to cut and paste and include links, is of limited use.

Radio Free Skaro #109 – Musings at Midnight

by Warren

“Midnight,” Series Four’s “Donna-lite” episode, got a solid round of “well dones” from the Three Who Rule, due to some fine acting and gold old-fashioned claustrophobic writing, harkening back to the old days of silver jumpsuits and very limited sets. We also covered what little there was to say about the two minute teaser for “The Next Doctor,” airing this Christmas in England and very shortly thereafter on computers across the globe. Allons-y!

What if the Matrix ran on Windows?

Funny, and damn, this looks pretty good for a web video.

Radio Free Skaro #108 – Hey, Who Turned down the Lights?

by Warren

Chris ran into some serious technical difficulties this week, but eventually sucked up his pride and used a PC rather than his beloved Mac to deliver unto you, our loyal fans, a commentary of “Forest of the Dead.” And that’s it really, there was no news (other than a rather impressive changing of the guard in Washington, D.C.) to discuss, and for the most part the Three Who Rules stayed on-topic and focused on the episode playing out in front of them. Amazing.
