Hong Kong struggles for relevance
by Warren
Hong Kong has been getting marginalized by Mainland China ever since they took over the joint from the Brits in 1997. Most of the economic whatnot that used to go through Western-friendly HK has now shifted to profit hungry Beijing, Shanghai, and Shenzen. Too bad, because aspiring foreign correspondents (like yours truly) used to be able to fly over there and land a newspaperin’ gig with a minimum of fuss. But I digress. Apparently in a bid to remind the world they still exist, Hong Kong is setting up some whizbang broadband commerce centres.
