Radio Free Skaro #100 – So it’s come to this..

by Warren

And with that, Radio Free Skaro reached 100 episodes. It’s been a strange trip for the Three Who Rule to internet femto-celebrity and renown as slightly amusing Whovian reprobates, but here we are. And we celebrate this milestone by beginning our Season Four commentaries with “Partners in Crime.” Allons-y!

Radio Free Skaro #98 – The Curse of Pela-slog

by Warren

The Three Who Rule were joined by a fourth, RFS friend Michael, who not only chimed in with commentary but also provided Chris with much needed Internet tubes for said conversing. The subject at hand? “The Monster of Peladon,” one of Pertwee’s lesser lights. Our bile was relentless as we criticized just about everything this story had to offer…which was little to begin with. Enjoy!

Radio Free Skaro #97 – Sir Reginald’s Dirty Little Secret

by Warren

Never let it be said that Radio Free Skaro digresses or makes up its own back story for the classic series episodes that we commentate on…because that’s precisely what we do, especially in Day of the Daleks, our latest butchery of the works of Jon Pertwee. Not a bad story overall, enhanced by our analysis of Jo’s mental state (lukewarm), the secret life of Sir Reginald (tawdry) and the gaseous state of Chris’s belly.

my day job at EP Daily

by Warren

So I’ve been busy for the past couple of months with my day job, working as a writer and editor for EP Daily, the new, daily version of the long-beloved Electric Playground.Basically, I get to make stories about video games, sci-fi movies and TV, and comics, all of which makes me extremely happy. Here’s a taste of the show, which you can see on G4TechTV

Radio Free Skaro #95 – Not the Mind Probe!

by Warren

News was sparse this week, but all the better for us to leap into commentary on “The Five Doctors,” one of the most pleasurable bits of fanwank to grace the British small screen, at least until “The Stolen Earth.” Next week, the adventures of the intrepid Bill Filer in “Claws of Axos.” Whee!

Radio Free Skaro #94 – Madoc! I mean, Robot!

by Warren

A titanic torrent of news was only the beginning of this mammoth episode of Radio Free Skaro, which featured almost an hour’s worth of banter even before we got around to commentary on “Robot”, Tom Baker’s debut story. Much as the crew has a certain fondness for this tale of fascistic scientists, errant droids and wonky regenerative antics, they were unsparing in their criticism of the silliness on screen…and Warren said “MADOC!” a lot. Enjoy!

Back from Comic Con….

by Warren

…and pretty much spent. This was my first time at the San Diego Comic Con, and I have to say it was something of an experience. Over 100,000 people, most of them in costume, hit the San Diego Convention Center every year, and both Hollywood and the comics and games industries show off their latest wares at what has become possibly the most important entertainment event of the year.

I spent most of my time lugging a tripod (I have the bruises on my arms to prove it), coordinating our three crews, and conducting interviews. Amongst the people I got to interview were Dave Gibbons, the artist responsible for the Watchmen, Walking Dead writer Robert Kirkman, the people behind the Spectacular Spider Man cartoon, Dana Snyder (the guy who plays Master Shake on ATHF), the cast of Eureka, and Tori Amos. I also coordinated us interviewing the cast of BSG, which was pretty cool.

Myself and my buddy Rich (cameraman for our unit) only had 20 minutes in the whole con to hit the floor and buy anything for ourselves, but I managed to snag a bunch of graphic novels, a “Con exclusive” Domo-Kun for Mel, another “Con exclusive” (say it with a nerdy sniff in your voice) action figure pack of the 10th and 5th Doctors, and this sweet-ass shirt:

All in all, a fine four days.

OMG WATCHMEN TRAILER!

by Warren

Check it out before it gets pulled. I like everything about it except for the Smashing Pumpkins tune and the “300” style dark color correction…but it looks remarkably faithful to the book and thus is deemed geekgasmic.

UPDATE: Here’s the trailer, and for a glorious HD version, head to Quicktime….

Radio Free Skaro #90 – Journey’s Meh

by Warren

After last week’s mind-melting funfest, things could only go downhill…and they did! The Three Who Rule were unsparing in their criticism of a finale episode that had its moments but seriously underwhelmed. Still, that didn’t stop Warren, Steven and Chris from staying mostly on topic and ranting about what will be the last bit of new Who for quite some time. Next week, a Black Orchid commentary, take it or leave it!

Radio Free Skaro #88 – Third (Guy) Left

by Warren

Chris absconded to Las Vegas  this week for liquor, gambling, and other licentious pursuits, so it was left to the other two pillars of RFS to hold the fort, which they barely managed. The subject at hand? “Turn Left,’ which served as not only this season’s “Doctor Lite” episode but also as a fantastic return to the series for Billie Piper, not to mention a sterling performance by Catherine Tate. The usual digressions and drivel-making were of course present, but without our tall co-host’s derisive sneers and seething hate, it wasn’t quite the same.
