Radio Free Skaro #57 – Meanderings and Miscellany

by

Another grab-bag episode of diversions, insults and tomfoolery for the Radio Free Skaro crew, as Chris reports in from London on the various Who goings-on from the past week (the biggest being the return of Peter Davison for the Children in Need special in a few short weeks) and all three contribute their opinions and insights to all things Who. And plenty more besides, including insulting straight white males, somehow working stories of the making of SCTV in the mix, and generally shooting their mouths off. Enjoy! Just wanted to let you know. You’ve got a 3rd listener and this is WAY better than Podshock. I enjoyed the episode by episode commentary from the classic series (i have also watched the entire series by transmission – including the reconstructions) very recently – and it’s fun to hear other’s opinions. (Love the comment on the music from “Death to the Daleks”… I LOLed…And the commentary on the current series as well.

Chris has been a great addition and his new home provides an interesting perspective. Thanks for doing these, and I’ll continue to listen!

Josh from Boston

Thanks, Josh from Boston (Whoo! Sox!) I can’t believe we now have three listeners. Well, four, including ourselves. Glad you enjoy the show. As long as you keep listening, we’ll keep making them.

Warren Frey says:

Yup, thanks for the kind words, Josh!

Chris Burgess says:

We meant two listeners in the UK actually, not two overall, but nonetheless we’re happy to have anyone from anywhere listen. We aim to please. =)

Mind you, I’ve never listened to Podshock to know how good or bad it is… the one Whocast I listened to was decent but I didn’t get through it all.

Josh Zimon says:

Podshock isn’t bad – I have nothing against those guys. In fact, I’ve listened to many of their episodes and I have enjoyed many. I just think that you guys have a more working knowledge of the classic series – and that makes the difference for me. Keep it up. BTW – thanks Steven for the shout out to the Sox. It’s pretty fun right now to be a New England sports fan. It’s like being a Doctor Who fan really – good thing I’m both.

Shall I be the first to pass judgement on the new look Sontarans?

The face prosthetics look good, fairly true to the original, but with better detailing. Sontarans now have teeth, apparently. But the body armour… egads, it’s dorky looking superhero plastic and foam! I guess the Judoon from last season stole the costume we would have expected to see the Sontarans clad in.

jabberwocky says:

Have to agree with sean with this one. I figure that the look is because we are going to see them on the SJA. Looking at the sontaran make me thing that I’m going to see the Tick come crashing out screaming SPOOON!

Chris Burgess says:

There’s been no announcement (or even rumour!) I’ve seen saying the Sontarans will be in Sarah Jane Adventures. They had the mention in episode 3 which sparked some rumours about the Sontarans returning in general, but there’s no sign of them returning (at least in the first series) of SJA. There’s been the announcement/spoiler for the monster that returns in the finale of SJA but it’s not Sontarans…
